Facebook Welcome Page

Check out my new facebook Welcome Page!

1). To make your own welcome page, design an image using photoshop or a free image creation program like gimp.  Select RGB mode and set your resolution, or dpi, to 72 pixels.  Make sure your width is 500 pixels; if it’s more than that scrollbars will appear on your page (theoretically you’re supposed to be able to make it 520 pixels, but when I tried that or just under I still got scrollbars but found the 500 pixel width to be scrollbar free).  The height can be any amount.  I set mine to 700 pixels, but again any size here will work.

2). While you’re designing your welcome page, decide if you want the same page to be seen by regular users and by fans or if you want regular users to see one welcome page (perhaps hinting to like your page) and fans to see another (thanking them for liking your page, telling them how awesome they are for liking your page, etc.).  If you want a second image, go ahead and design that now too.

3). Once you are done with your image(s), you need to post them online so they have a URL. The app recommends this site, FreeVPS (a free image hosting site), which at first worked great, but after a day, my links were broken because the URLs could no longer be found, and which now appears to be taken down altogether).  Instead, I recommend posting the image to your blog (which is what I ended up doing and it seems to be working so far).  Right click on the image and select the option to copy URL location.  Save the URL; you’ll need it shortly.  If you don’t have a blog, you can post the image online using Flickr, facebook, or another website that lets you post photos; any method you use should be fine as long as the picture is online and has a functioning URL.

4).Go to “Static HTML: iFrame tabs" and install by selecting the blue box that says "add Static HTML to a Page."

5). On your facebook page, select the Welcome text on the left side that appears under your profile picture.  Click the blue pencil at the top of the page to edit info.  You’ll see two boxes to type in code.

6). Copy and paste this code into the first box:

<img src=”YOUR URL HERE” border=”0” />

7). Highlight the text in between the quotes (YOUR URL HERE).  Copy and paste your image’s URL address into the highlighted text.  This is what it should look like, except with your own URL info.

<img src=”https://freevps.us/img/images/image1tit.jpg” border=”0” />

8). If you’re going to use the same page for both regular users and fans, copy the same code into the second box.  If you’re going to use a different page for fans, copy and paste this code into the second box: <img src=”YOUR URL HERE” border=”0” /> and then follow step 6.

9). Save your changes, and then select preview to see what your page looks like and if you need to make any tweaks to your design.

10). Don’t forget to like my page!
